In a warm and pleasant atmosphere, Sasa Mine today hosted the final event and award ceremony for the best 12 children’s drawings from this year’s art competition titled “The Mine and the Town – Through time and imagination” organised by the Sasa Foundation.

A total of 90 children aged 5 to 15 from the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica, as well as children of Sasa Mine employees, registered to take part in the competition. For the first time, instead of submitting artworks individually, the children created their drawings during organised creative art workshops led by a local artist – an art teacher. This new approach gave young participants the opportunity to express their imaginations more freely, learn from each other and creatively portray their vision of the mine, the town and the community.
An independent jury composed of external experts selected the 12 best artworks that most vividly reflect the connection between the mine, the natural environment and everyday life in the community. The authors of the selected drawings received monetary awards of 3,000 denars, while all participants were presented with certificates and drawing and painting sets, encouraging them to continue nurturing their talent and passion for art.

The awarded artworks will be featured in the official Sasa Mine 2026 Calendar, as well as in other publications dedicated to young talent and the local community.
Sasa Mine emphasises that this competition, now in its fourth year, remains an important initiative which supports children’s creativity and strengthens the bond between the mine and the people of Makedonska Kamenica. The Foundation will continue to invest in programmes that encourage learning, talent development and community spirit among the youngest generations.
