This is a full-time, on-site role located in Makedonska Kamenica, North Macedonia. As a Mine Planning & Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and executing mine design and planning, including creating and reviewing designs using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and safe operations, optimize resource extraction, and support the implementation of technical solutions. Additionally, you will contribute to the Cut and Fill Project to enhance sustainability and safety in the mining operations.
You will:
- Train and mentor engineers in Deswik and develop training materials
- Coordinate team activities, monitor progress, and track KPIs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize Deswik use and improve mine design
- Support technical presentations, reporting, and data-driven projects
We’re looking for someone with:
- Degree/Master’s in Mining Engineering
- Strong experience using mine planning and design software Deswik
- Proven training experience
- Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-cultural teamwork
- Creative thinking and ability to influence change
- Proven experience in underground mine planning and design, preferably within hard-rock mining operations.
- Practical experience designing and planning development and stopes in Longhole stoping environments and other underground extraction techniques.
- Experience preparing short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans, including production scheduling and sequencing.
- Demonstrated ability to produce stope designs, drill and blast designs, and development layouts.
- Experience working closely with geology, geotechnical, and operations teams to optimise mine plans and ensure practical implementation.
- Understanding of mine ventilation, ground control, and operational constraints in underground environments.
- Experience analysing production data and using planning tools to support efficient and safe ore extraction.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical plans and collaborate with site and technical teams
