This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Mining Engineer with minimum 8 years of experience in undergroundDrill & Blastdesign preferably in long-hole stoping operations. Based at SASA Mine, located in Makedonska Kamenica, North Macedonia, the role will focus on supporting the transition of the mining method from Sub-Level Caving (SLC) to Longhole Stoping (LHS) with Paste Backfill. The Senior Drill & Blast Engineer will be responsible for ensuring high-quality drill and blast design, execution, and operational performance across the operation while also mentoring and developing the skills of our national Engineers.
You will:
- Develop LHS drill and blast designs and plans using Deswik UGDB
- Work closely with Mine Planning and operations teams to ensure effective execution underground
- Collaborate with the Paste Backfill team to align stope filling activities with drill and blast designs
- Monitor drilling QA/QC and reconcile designs versus actual underground performance
- Train and mentor local Drill & Blast engineers and other technical staff
- Support improvements in mine design, mine planning processes, and operational performance
We’re looking for someone with:
- Degree or Master’s in Mining Engineering
- Strong experience in LHS Drill & Blast and Deswik software
- Proven ability to train and mentor engineers in LHS mining methods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data analysis
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
