In line with its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, Sasa Mine, through its Foundation for sustainable development, has implemented a new cycle of donations across three key sectors: education, culture and healthcare. The latest donations aim to improve learning conditions, preserve cultural heritage and strengthen local public healthcare capacity.

As part of its support for education, the Sasa Foundation has donated funds for the procurement of 50 new lockers for first-grade students at the “St. Cyril and Methodius” Primary School in Makedonska Kamenica. This initiative is designed to enhance the students’ daily experience at school and promote responsibility and organisation from an early age.

Additionally, the Foundation donated 300 new books to the “Krste Petkov Misirkov” City Library. This contribution will help further enrich the library’s collection and promote a culture of reading across all generations. Thanks to the longstanding support of the Sasa Foundation, the library now holds over 14,500 publications for readers of all ages.

In its efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage, the Foundation provided traditional folk costumes for the youngest members (up to 14 years old) of the “Vera Jocic” Cultural and Artistic Society from Makedonska Kamenica. These are authentic male and female costumes from the Pijanec region, allow for the genuine representation of local heritage at cultural events in North Macedonia and abroad. Furthermore, the Foundation also provided funds to restore the digital cinema projector at the House of Culture in Makedonska Kamenica, once again granting residents access to film and multimedia content.

These donations build on the Foundation’s most recent support aimed at enhancing local healthcare capacity. This includes the donation of medical supplies and equipment – such as a respirator and patient monitoring devices – to the general hospital in Kochani and the Clinical Center in Shtip. Additionally, bed linens and covers were provided for patients at the Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Skopje.

“At the Sasa Mine, we firmly believe that mining is not just about business – it is also about investing in people, education, culture, healthcare and other areas vital to the wellbeing and prosperity of the community. The Sasa Foundation is the voice and the instrument through which this socially responsible mission of the Sasa Mine and the CAML group is realised. We are encouraged by the fact that the support we provide delivers tangible benefits to people and improves the quality of life in the community, which is why we remain deeply committed to continuing this mission,” said Ivica Talevski, Director of the Sasa Foundation.
