This is a full-time, on-site role for a Laboratory Manager at SASA Mine, located in Makedonska Kamenica, North Macedonia. The role will be responsible for leading the Mine Laboratory and ensuring accurate, timely and reliable analytical results to support Geology, Mining Operations, Flotation/Processing, Sales and other operational functions. The Laboratory Manager will drive laboratory quality, efficiency and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2018, effective use of LIMS, and integrity and traceability of analytical data.
You will:
· Lead and coordinate Laboratory operations, resources and priorities, ensuring efficient sample processing and meeting required turnaround times.
· Maintain the Laboratory Quality Management System and QA/QC programme in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2018.
· Ensure effective use and continuous development of LIMS, including sample tracking, QA/QC, reporting, data integrity and traceability.
· Oversee analytical methods and technologies including XRF, AAS, ICP-OES and wet chemistry, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
· Drive continuous improvement, automation and technology development to improve analytical quality, productivity and efficiency.
· Manage laboratory equipment, resources and costs, contributing to OPEX and CAPEX planning.
· Lead, develop and mentor the Laboratory team, promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, accuracy and accountability.
We’re looking for someone with:
· University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or another relevant technical/scientific discipline.
· Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a mining, mineral processing, metallurgical or accredited laboratory environment including at least two years in a managerial or deputy position.
· Good knowledge and practical experience with ISO/IEC 17025, laboratory QA/QC and quality management systems.
· Experience with LIMS, laboratory data management and analytical instrumentation.
· Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage people, priorities and laboratory resources.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
