Рудник САСА и годинава, по традиција, обезбеди празнична поддршка за вработените и локалната заедница

During the New Year and Christmas holiday period, continuing its long-standing tradition of care and solidarity, Sasa Mine, both independently and through its Foundation, implemented a series of activities aimed at bringing holiday cheer and tangible support to its employees and the wider local community in Makedonska Kamenica. As part of these traditional holiday initiatives, 57 blankets were provided for the beneficiaries of the Day Centre for persons with special needs and for members of the “PORAKA” Association in Makedonska Kamenica. In addition, in co-operation with the municipality, food packages were donated to 220 socially vulnerable families in the local community, providing significant assistance to those most in need during this period of the year. As in previous years, special attention was also dedicated to the youngest members of the community. The Sasa Foundation provided 160 New Year gift packages for children attending the “Bambi” kindergarten, as well as 431 gift packages for pupils of the “Cyril and Methodius” primary school in Makedonska Kamenica. The gift packages included products from Makprogres from Vinica, whose production facility was affected by a fire several months ago, as a gesture of solidarity and support for the company’s recovery following the incident. Continuing its established holiday tradition of appreciation and respect, Sasa Mine also provided gifts and a festive dinner for the on-duty teams of the emergency medical services, the fire brigade and the police, as well as for Sasa Mine employees who worked on New Year’s Eve. In addition to the activities aimed at supporting the local community, all Sasa Mine employees received a holiday bonus as part of their salary, along with an appropriate holiday gift, as a token of gratitude for their dedication, responsibility and professional commitment throughout the year. “These activities are part of a tradition that Sasa Mine has nurtured for many years as a responsible member of the community. Despite the challenges we faced during the year, the mine found the strength and the means to continue investing in people—both in our employees and in the community where we live and work. We believe that during the holiday season, solidarity and care carry a special significance,” said the management of the Sasa Mine, extending holiday greetings to all employees and members of the community, with wishes for good health, success and happiness. Through these traditional holiday initiatives, Sasa Mine and its Foundation once again reaffirm their long-term commitment to the well-being of employees and to supporting the local community. Доделени наградите за најдобрите детски цртежи од ликовниот конкурс на Фондација Рудник САСА

In a warm and pleasant atmosphere, Sasa Mine today hosted the final event and award ceremony for the best 12 children’s drawings from this year’s art competition titled “The Mine and the Town – Through time and imagination” organised by the Sasa Foundation. A total of 90 children aged 5 to 15 from the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica, as well as children of Sasa Mine employees, registered to take part in the competition. For the first time, instead of submitting artworks individually, the children created their drawings during organised creative art workshops led by a local artist – an art teacher. This new approach gave young participants the opportunity to express their imaginations more freely, learn from each other and creatively portray their vision of the mine, the town and the community. An independent jury composed of external experts selected the 12 best artworks that most vividly reflect the connection between the mine, the natural environment and everyday life in the community. The authors of the selected drawings received monetary awards of 3,000 denars, while all participants were presented with certificates and drawing and painting sets, encouraging them to continue nurturing their talent and passion for art. The awarded artworks will be featured in the official Sasa Mine 2026 Calendar, as well as in other publications dedicated to young talent and the local community. Sasa Mine emphasises that this competition, now in its fourth year, remains an important initiative which supports children’s creativity and strengthens the bond between the mine and the people of Makedonska Kamenica. The Foundation will continue to invest in programmes that encourage learning, talent development and community spirit among the youngest generations. Makedonska Kamenica, 9 December 2025

Рудник САСА го одбележа Светскиот ден на животната средина со заеднички активности со заедницата

To mark World Environment Day – this year themed around tackling plastic pollution – Sasa Mine launched three important activities to promote environmental awareness and community action. On this occasion, Sasa Mine donated an automatic reverse-vending machine – the first of its kind in the municipality of Makedonska Kamenica – which will allow citizens to easily contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. To celebrate the installation of the machine, educational activities involving young people from the local community were organised, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of recycling and sustainable development. Plastic Recycling, Made Easy The innovative reverse-vending machine, located in a high-traffic area in the town centre, enables residents and visitors of Makedonska Kamenica to deposit used plastic bottles that are then processed and sent for recycling. At the same time, each deposited bottle earns “green points,” redeemable for benefits and discounts on various products and services. This concept is designed to promote responsible behavior and contribute to reducing plastic waste in urban areas. “Today’s donation is part of Sasa Mine’s broader commitment to environmental protection and strengthening local ecological awareness. The vending machine is not just a device – it is a tool for change – raising awareness and enabling action to reduce plastic waste, one of today’s biggest global environmental risks. Through initiatives like this, and others we implement continuously, we aim to send a strong message as a company about the need for joint action toward a more sustainable future,” said Ivica Talevski, Sustainability Director at Sasa Mine. The Mayor of Makedonska Kamenica, Dimcho Atanasovski, expressed his gratitude for the donation, highlighting that the partnership with Sasa Mine is an example of successful collaboration between institutions and businesses in making long-term improvements for the community. “This donation will not only contribute to a cleaner environment but will also help build habits for responsible handling of plastic waste. We encourage the community to actively use the vending machine and to join efforts to reduce waste. I am confident this initiative will inspire other municipalities and companies to invest in green solutions,” said Mayor Atanasovski. Eco-Bazaar: Turning Waste into Resources As part of the World Environment Day celebration, together with the municipal primary school “St. Cyril and Methodius,” Sasa Mine organised an Eco-Bazaar entitled “We Re-use, We Preserve Nature.” At the stands set up in the school yard, numerous students from the school, children from the kindergarten, and users from the Day Centre for People with Special Needs showcased creative items made from recycled materials, which they created together with the Sasa Mine environmental protection team. The aim of this activity was to encourage youth initiative and to demonstrate how waste can be turned into a resource through innovation, art and responsible environmental behaviour. Proceeds from the items sold will be donated to support the Day Centre for People with Special Needs in Makedonska Kamenica. Youth Voices for Nature Ahead of World Environment Day, Sasa Mine hosted a Youth Open Forum that brought together young employees from SASA Mine, local students from the University “Goce Delchev” in Štip, and Day Centre users in Makedonska Kamenica. The forum served as a platform for dialogue, to share ideas and to propose concrete actions which young people can take to protect the environment. Through these activities, Sasa Mine continues to show that caring for the environment is not just a responsibility, but a long-term commitment to empowering communities, collaboration and protecting the planet for future generations. Фондацијата САСА со нови донации во образованието, културата и здравството

In line with its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, Sasa Mine, through its Foundation for sustainable development, has implemented a new cycle of donations across three key sectors: education, culture and healthcare. The latest donations aim to improve learning conditions, preserve cultural heritage and strengthen local public healthcare capacity. As part of its support for education, the Sasa Foundation has donated funds for the procurement of 50 new lockers for first-grade students at the “St. Cyril and Methodius” Primary School in Makedonska Kamenica. This initiative is designed to enhance the students’ daily experience at school and promote responsibility and organisation from an early age. Additionally, the Foundation donated 300 new books to the “Krste Petkov Misirkov” City Library. This contribution will help further enrich the library’s collection and promote a culture of reading across all generations. Thanks to the longstanding support of the Sasa Foundation, the library now holds over 14,500 publications for readers of all ages. In its efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage, the Foundation provided traditional folk costumes for the youngest members (up to 14 years old) of the “Vera Jocic” Cultural and Artistic Society from Makedonska Kamenica. These are authentic male and female costumes from the Pijanec region, allow for the genuine representation of local heritage at cultural events in North Macedonia and abroad. Furthermore, the Foundation also provided funds to restore the digital cinema projector at the House of Culture in Makedonska Kamenica, once again granting residents access to film and multimedia content. These donations build on the Foundation’s most recent support aimed at enhancing local healthcare capacity. This includes the donation of medical supplies and equipment – such as a respirator and patient monitoring devices – to the general hospital in Kochani and the Clinical Center in Shtip. Additionally, bed linens and covers were provided for patients at the Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Skopje. “At the Sasa Mine, we firmly believe that mining is not just about business – it is also about investing in people, education, culture, healthcare and other areas vital to the wellbeing and prosperity of the community. The Sasa Foundation is the voice and the instrument through which this socially responsible mission of the Sasa Mine and the CAML group is realised. We are encouraged by the fact that the support we provide delivers tangible benefits to people and improves the quality of life in the community, which is why we remain deeply committed to continuing this mission,” said Ivica Talevski, Director of the Sasa Foundation.

Едукативен проект на Рудник САСА за запознавање на најмладите со природните вредности и нивната заштита

Sasa Mine, in collaboration with a group of independent authors, has published a book for the youngest members of the community aimed at introducing them to the natural beauties of their surroundings. The goal of the book “Jasmina exploring the Osogovo Mountains – A story of acquainting, knowing and protecting natural values,” is to enrich children’s literature in the Macedonian language, focused on nature exploration and contributing to raising awareness about the importance of preserving the environment. The book, primarily intended for children and students up to fifth grade, serves as an educational ecological text. Through an authentic narrative style, it guides readers through the natural features of the surroundings of Sasa Mine and the Osogovo Mountains, showcasing their natural beauty and biodiversity. The book also includes guidelines for safe navigation and appropriate behaviour in nature. Additionally, it describes the symbiosis between mining and nature, which has existed in this region for centuries, as well as the efforts undertaken by Sasa Mine to maintain this balance. The text of the book was written by biologist and educator Kiril Arsovski-Przho, and the illustrations were created by the young award-winning illustrator Sofija Sitnovska. Expressing gratitude to the entire team that worked on this educational project, Maria Stojanovska, the head of the Environmental Department at Sasa Mine, stated: “The idea for this project arose from the fact that awareness and love for natural beauty begin to develop from an early age. That is why we at Sasa Mine dedicated significant attention and effort to creating this beautifully illustrated book, which we believe children will love. We aim for it to enhance their knowledge about the nature that surrounds and sustains them while serving as a guide for how to treat it responsibly.” The majority of the copies of the book will be distributed by Sasa Mine to the municipal primary school, the kindergarten, and municipal and city libraries throughout the eastern region, as well as in other parts of the country. Copies of the book will also be delivered to the day centre for people with special needs in Makedonska Kamenica. This educational publication is yet another socially responsible initiative undertaken by Sasa Mine as part of its long-term strategy for sustainable development and community prosperity.
